Up Close and Personal

When asked about being a priest, I am quick to reply:

"It wasn't my idea!"

Really, it wasn't!

My parents supported every course the seven of my siblings walked.  None were their ideas. Yet, my dear mom and dad were practical people who passed on the values they each cherished.

Service i8s embedded in my DNA, so to speak, and, in my bones because of my dad and mom.

Other people's ideas work best for me.  Todazy, I walk tall given that I learned God's Way as the happy and peaceful path.

For sure.

A GIANT FOR ALL OF HUMANITY

'Conscience of the world.'

That's how Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) is described.

An author, journalist, and scholar, Wiesel enlarged the world by fighting indifference and a sense that 'I am not my brother's keeper.'

He believed in the goodness of people despite the 6 million who perished in the Holocaust. 

To remain silent and indifferent is the greatest sin of all, Wiesel pressed.

We all must step up to the plate now as America teeters while hatred abounds.

One Up!

Will being "one up" always be around?

Will people constantly try to put others down for self to look up and be above another?

Unless we level the playing field, derision and division will continue to be part of the culture of America, no?
